Grace & the Midnight Angel is the musical creation of BMI singer-songwriter, Melanie Silos (Head of Rock for Learning), with lyrics and music written, produced, and performed by Melanie Silos with special guest musicianship and participation of various artists, including Drummer Joshua Swanbom, Guitarist/Engineer Joey D Anna, Bassist Paul Cusick, and more.

With influences and inspiration from Rock for Learning featured artists, Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin, Francis Dunnery, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, Oasis, Incubus, Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, Seal, Reeve Carney, and Pete Yorn, as well as Trent Reznor, NIN, Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Hozier, and Beck, Grace & the Midnight Angel offers an eclectic variety of singer/songwriter acoustic music with a blend of ethereal vibes and emo-gothic darkness with retro groovy light and a hint of alt-country-folk playing mandolin and a fender telecaster on some songs. Like Billie Eilish with her element of darkness, Grace & the Midnight Angel flirts with temptations and longings of love with certainty of eternal light in the heart and soul of passion.

For me being a singer-songwriter means so much more than channeling and sharing my passion and artistic craft of music; it is a commitment to an important and essential experience of my life. Even moreso, making and sharing music is about being actively part of something bigger than myself and serving to a need that someone may have, especially like finding a light of hope in life during times of darkness, sharing a relatable feeling or experience, as well as sharing co-elation in times of joy.

All these music artists who have inspired and influenced me so much have sparked great love and have infused their own passion for music into me just by my being engulfed in their live sound, and in some cases I feel that I have gained a bit of creative talent by osmosis of a mere touch of a hand or a hug, like magic.

How intensely I love music and the artists with whom I feel a connection and to whom I have been drawn, and especially those I have featured here in RockforLearning.com, is inexplicable. Maybe the connection is spiritual or fate or magical; either way I feel certain that every live concert, performance, encounter, and meeting I have had with my favorite musicians has been purposeful, especially with those whom have performed on my record with me. The music goes beyond ego and serves a heartfelt purpose, not only for healing, uplifting, and being soothing to the soul (even metal soothes the soul through vicarious expression), but also it brings people together, either in celebration and/or shared empathy, and creates an inner sense of resolve, peace, and love.

And for even greater purpose, as part of Rock for Learning together with all the featured major label artists, who are far more experienced and well known than I and have inspired me so much, as a musician and founder of Rock for Learning I serve to help cultivate a better world by supporting the great music and good causes of philanthropy endorsed and promoted by all the participating and featured artists.

The music and Rock for Learning are something bigger than myself in a sense of unity towards the stewardship of life and earth with faith and hope in the future. I thank God for all of this.
